As part of our commitment to caring for the environment we are always looking for ways to be more energy efficient. This commitment has resonated through our team members. Because of this we were lucky enough to have one of our own come to us with a great idea on how we can do better as a Company. Read the story below.

After completing lighting upgrades at home, Caretaker Landscape and Tree Management Purchasing Agent Mike Greene was inspired to save money for our own company by giving our office an energy efficiency makeover. He expected a large out-of-pocket investment to gain long-term energy savings. “But when I contacted APS for help with a contractor and found out their rebates kicked in almost half of the cost, it was a no-brainer,” Mike says.  He brought this idea up to the team and headed up the project at the request of President, Kent Miller.

Mike looked into improving the energy efficiency of our office and shop lighting. When he contacted APS Solutions for Business and learned that a significant portion of project costs would be covered by APS rebates, let’s just say he “saw the light.”

THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS

APS partnered with Mike every step of the way, connecting him with an APS Express Solutions Trade Ally who handled everything from conducting the free energy assessment to installing the equipment and helping us file for our rebate. All the work took place during scheduled office hours and did not disrupt the workflow. “We had no idea there was support for this kind of thing,” he says. “We now want to look into all possible projects—from insulation to air conditioners. If we are saving this much on lighting alone, there are probably more possibilities.”

Stone Kat recycled all of our old fixtures, ballasts, fluorescent and incandescent bulbs.
